About Paul

Company founder and director, Paul Di Gioacchino, began his career as a project engineer working in Health and Research Facility design, delivery and Facilities Management.

During this time, Paul worked on projects such as renovations, refurbishments, corrective maintenance and extensions in hospitals and health care centres, where clinical staff and patients were present.

An advanced and much higher level of logistics are required in these situations to ensure there is no disruption to the everyday running of the facility, and more importantly, that the well being of patients and staff was not compromised

Responsibilities and Achievements

Paul is one of very few Engineering Managers working within the Public Health system who has acquired skill, knowledge and experience in both Capital Works as well as Preventative and Corrective Facilities Management. This includes hands-on experience in complying with Department of Human Services Essential Services Guidelines.

Paul has experience working in direct liaison with key stakeholders such as:

  • University of Melbourne, Department of Medicine
  • Walter Eliza Hall Institute (WEHI)
  • Ludwig Cancer Institute
  • Bone Marrow Donor Institute

Key experience:

  • Operations Manager for all corrective maintenance including minor works for 7 major public hospitals belonging to Melbourne, Wester and Northern Health groups, including maintenance for 21 separate nursing homes and mental health sites.
  • Responsible for managing more than 180 minor works requisitions at any one time across all Sites ranging from $1000 up to $200,000.
  • In direct contact with and responsible for approximately 40 in-house trades’ staff as well as more than 30 different external providers.
  • Co-ordinated the shutdown of services in reference to capital works’ infrastructure upgrade, so as to minimise impact to Hospital operations.
  • Developed database systems for controlling and monitoring purchase ordering and works requisitions
  • Assisted with the implementation of essential services, namely fire services and generator testing.
  • Continual improvement of systems for resource management and works order requires.
  • Installed 3 CT scanner and their associated infrastructure.
  • One of 4 on-call engineers for after hours emergency services. A member of the Emergency Response team for The Royal Melbourne Hospital.
  • Experience in Commonwealth accreditation for both Public Health sites and Aged Care facilities.
  • Experience in fire audit processes including the Essential Services Act and current DHS guidelines.
  • Experience in all facets of critical care health services, such as medical gases, UPS back-up, body/cardiac protection, isolation wards, ICU/CCU/Operating Suite/CSSD.

Given this environment, Paul has developed a unique skill set, allowing him to establish his own specialist project management company – S-Curve Linear. Paul’s extensive knowledge and expertise in complex projects gives him and his team the ability to get to the heart of client goals and objectives, helping to deliver a first-class facility, on time and on-budget.

Paul’s flexible management style stems from his experience in working with a variety of Healthcare Professionals, construction trade sub-contractors as well as key stakeholder groups in Health and Research Sectors.
